A Post-Apocalyptic Survival Kit

To me the end of the world comes when any scaling of a graph with the time being on the x axis and the amount humanity knows being on the y axis, comparable to a scaling of it that shows the past year, appears vertical. Robert Anton Wilson, a hallucinogenically misled genius and student of Timothy Leary, incidentally found that, using various figures such as information about the world's libraries, the extrapolation of the curve plotted by such a graph begins to look vertical on December, 21 2012. It is intuitive that such a curve would represent an exponential function because in general there are more discoveries and breakthroughs made in an amount of time than there were in that same amount of time in the past.

That being said, some people were tossing around ideas for a 'survival kit to have at the end of the world'; and I had some ideas. The first thing I thought about was water purification. People in many parts of the world use sand to filter water, and now scientists have created a 'super sand' for this purpose1. The second thing I considered indispensable was an H2/O2-based cooker fueled by water (and sunlight, used by the artificial leaf for hydrolysis)2.

And then I began to think about food. The first thing that popped into my mind was using a sonic weapon to incapacitate a deer long enough to walk up to it and kill it with a knife; such sonic weapons are used for crowd control3. Then I thought about foraging and came to conclusion that goji and hemp seeds may be more valuable than hunting equipment: goji and hemp seeds can grow just about anywhere and together the plants (available at most health food stores) are extremely nutritious sources of complete protein, a full array of vitamins and minerals, and essential fatty acids.

And of course, if you don't already live in a cabin in the wilderness, a tent and rucksack are necessary. Decentralized solar-powered wireless networks would also be nice:
